What is the Church?
Despite all its failures over the last 2000 years, the church is central to God’s plan. The church is the gathering of God’s eternal family for the purpose of worshiping him and bringing restoration to the world.
We see in the book of Ephesians that the church is:
- A family – a place of belonging and fellowship
- An army – people who carry out God’s redemptive purposes to overcome the enemy
- An identity – we don’t just go to church; we are the church
- A team – we are the people training to be like Jesus and do what he did.
- A hospital – a place where people can come as they are and be restored.
