God As King | The Spirit of Truth

What does it mean to follow the Spirit of Truth in a world full of competing voices? In 1 Kings 22, we see a dramatic moment where King Ahab gathers 400 prophets to tell him what he wants to hear, while only one prophet, Micaiah, dares to speak the truth. Micaiah delivers a hard message: if Ahab goes to battle, he will not return. Ahab ignores it and dies just as God said he would. This story reminds us that the truth isn’t always popular or comfortable. But God is not silent. He still speaks, through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and trusted voices around us. Our challenge is to listen, even when the truth costs us.

We all face pressure to go along with the crowd. But following Jesus means we seek His voice above all others. It means slowing down, inviting the Spirit to search our hearts, and choosing faithfulness over comfort. The Spirit of Truth doesn’t flatter us; it transforms us. And when we listen and obey, even in small ways, we become people who carry God's clarity into a noisy world.
